Research for writing

I am still unsure of where this writing will lead me. I feel I have been more inclined towards the manifesto style of writing.

Things I need to think about that may help structure my writing:

Using what is instructed by the above link.

1 - I BELIEVE: I believe that clothing can be altered, shaped, designed in new ways to portray a new identity. It doesn't mean you are disrespecting where its origins are but celebrating it.

2 - I WANT TO LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE: I want to live in a world where I can wear clothes I've designed and sewn myself to community gatherings and events without being criticised or judged.

3 - HERE'S WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE: That people from the Punjabi community can say whatever they want and judge me how much they want but that will never change who I am as a person or my values. It does not mean my parents raised me wrong or that I am of bad character just because I wear what I wear.

4 - ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN (TIPS/ADVICE):

- People will always have something to say, so just do you. As you get older it affects you less.

- Be your true self

- Even if someone is older than you, it doesn't make them wiser or right!

5 - WRITE A MINI-MANIFESTO (15 SECS)

Celebrate your identity whether it is hybrid or the singular. Knowing who you are gives you a sense of belonging and shapes your values and mindset.

AUDIENCE - Is this just for myself and others of hybrid identities? In a way I am mostly writing this for myself / others experiencing/have experienced this.

Reflecting on my past/present to discover who and why I am. What is my drive and motivation?

IDEAS/CONCEPTS

- Going to the temple and not being able to afford/have the same traditional attire as everyone else. in Indian culture class/heirachy plays a huge part, is this one of those times? Has attending the temple become tainted by these old ideologies and mindsets? Vs. Now I can sew my own garments however I like and wear it however I like without caring about what the community has to say. If the closest people in my life (mum & dad) have nothing bad to say about what I wear/make then why does anyone else even matter?

- Skills and values passed on to me by my mum when it comes to designing and sewing. The memories and bonding I have had with her over the years through this.

- What I really hope to achieve in the future/ how I want the future to be.
